Camden’s Chris Cream Steps Into the Spotlight With Grimes
Camden native Chris Cream is carrying his hometown with him into his first leading series. In a sit-down with host Ray on The Raymond Tyler show at PhillyCAM’s studios in Center City, the actor, grandson of Camden heavyweight champion Jersey Joe Walcott, talks about Grimes, a spin-off built around the officer he played in the Camden-made drama Chase Street. Written by Denny Brown and Thomas Freeman, Chase Street made Grimes such a fan favorite that the creators gave the character his own show. Cream describes himself as an oak tree in a flower pot, roots busting through the bottom, and says he’s proud to help plant new seeds for how people see Camden.
How Chris Cream Found His Grimes
Cream shares how a table read and a chance encounter at a Camden football game unlocked the character for him, why he pushes the writers to dig deeper, and what makes complex TV characters so easy to root for. He also has fun in a closing round pairing Grimes with legends like Tony Soprano and Stringer Bell. Grimes is set to premiere January 17 in Atlantic City, with tickets listed on Eventbrite under “Grimes,” and the series is expected to stream on Tubi down the line. Chase Street is streaming on Tubi now. Watch the full interview below and follow Raymond Tyler Show on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@RaymondTyler2018.
