North Camden Mom Turns Her Story Into Strength for Other Moms
North Camden mom Lorenz has a message she wants every woman to hear. In a candid conversation with hosts Toi Paige and Braheim Jackson on Tales From the Jails, the mother of two opens up for Domestic Violence Awareness Month about a five-year relationship that turned violent, the warning signs she looked past, and the night in 2024 when she was shot by her children’s father and fought to survive for her sons.
Why This North Camden Mom’s Story Matters
What makes the episode worth your time is how honest it is. Lorenz, who graduated valedictorian of her high school class, talks openly about why leaving was so hard, how isolation kept pulling her back, and why so many people around her stayed quiet. Her message is direct. It can happen to anyone, at any age or income level, and laughing it off or protecting someone who causes harm only keeps the cycle going.
Her story doesn’t end in the hard part. Lorenz has since moved somewhere safe with her boys, started a run club and a mom group, and is launching a transportation business. She’s also building a nonprofit called New Moms, rooted in her belief that when mothers are supported, the whole community thrives.
